About

Margaret DeMonte

Chef. Food Stylist. Recipe Developer. Food Marketer.

I fell in love with food at the age of three, when I had my first bite of sushi. The chef plucked a piece of shrimp tempura off my simple plate, rolled it into a delicious surprise and I was hooked.

While studying away from my home in the San Francisco Bay Area since the age of twelve, I learned the fine art of ordering take-out and rarely set foot in a kitchen. But after working countless late nights as a television producer in Manhattan, and dining at some of the finest restaurants in the world, I realized it was time to learn to cook the beautiful food I was enjoying, rather than ordering it.

I left my job in New York and entered the professional program at Tante Marie’s Cooking School in San Francisco, ranked in the top ten private culinary schools in the country by Gourmet magazine.

At Tante Marie’s, I became dedicated to learning about local, seasonal foods and the best ways to prepare them. This led me to an externship at world famous Chez Panisse in Berkeley, under chef David Tanis.

I then had a brief stint as the private chef for music icon Prince - an experience I will of course never forget. Soon after I combined my two careers in food and entertainment to become the culinary producer for food shows on Bravo, Cooking Channel, Food Network and FOX.

I have worked for such notable chefs as Gordon Ramsay, Eric Ripert, Michael Chiarello, Michel Nischan, Dean Fearing, Michelle Bernstein, Scott Conant, Rocco Dispirito and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson.

I live in Fairfield, CT, with my son, Teddy and our retired show dog, Charm.
